19th Century Nantucket Lighthouse Basket (Faded Writing on Bottom)

Wish I could read the pencil writng on the bottom but havent been able to. See photos. Believe the first word is “By”. And Maybe 18?8. I believe the bottom is mahogany. Someone who knows more than I suggested it looks like work possibly by Captain James Wyer. 6.25” high includng handle. 5” in diameter. Condition is excellent. Only gently dusted and that’s it. Wonderful patination.
