Custom Furniture or Repair and Restoration

A little over twenty-three years ago,I put down the chisels, planes and drills , dusted the sawdust from my sandals and opened the door at 1731 Massachusetts Avenue and said “Welcome to Abodeon.”. I had spent over two decades on the Boston Waterfront and in the South End making custom furniture and restoring antiques, at first alone and then with a staff that at one time numbered over twenty.
Gradually, starting in 1978, the year of The Blizzard not only did we build furniture but also built custom interiors and renovated townhouses in Beacon Hill and Back Bay in addition to our construction projects on the waterfront wharves and North End.

Well, I’ve picked up the tools again, have some sawdust on my sandals and am part of a wonderful furniture shop in Stow, Mass. Should you need someone to restore a piece of furniture or have a piece built I’d be happy to talk to you about your project. I won’t be working the long hours I did a few decades ago but hopefully just enough that I’ll always be brushing off a little sawdust.

I’m old so I know stuff. I’m old so I’m forgetting stuff. If you have an restoration or furniture building question I’d ask it quickly before I forget any more stuff.

1976. Just finished restoring the Jolly boat that hung off the stern of the tall ship Regina Maris. Two friends weaseled into the photo trying to take credit.
