About Abodeon

A Celebration of Modern Design Through the Decades

Abodeon opened its doors in the fall of 1998 in Cambridge, MA (our fair city) on the outskirts of Harvard Square, and transitioned to an online-only business in Summer 2021. During more than two decades of business, Abodeon has received multiple Best of Boston titles (awarded by Boston Magazine) and Boston’s Best titles (awarded by The Improper Bostonian), and been a neighborhood institution, a destination store that always rewarded a visit.

By focusing on our online storefront, we’ve been able to further hone and refine what we do while expanding on our ability to offer custom-built furniture and master restoration services. Contact us if you’re looking for an early Eames lounge, an expert, invisible repair for your Wegner dining table, or a custom designed piece of furniture utilizing the most exquisite material and craftsmanship available.

Dale Anderson, founder of Abodeon, has crafted a business integrally tied to his experience, knowledge, and interests. A custom furniture builder, master cabinet-maker, and true artist of all forms, Dale’s work has brought him to the highest high-rise apartments, into the tall ships, in modern bungalows, antique farmhouses, and all points in between.

His expertise has been an invaluable resource for Abodeon and, for the first time since the store’s opening, he is able to offer expert restoration and custom furniture building to the general public. He is interested and available for all projects - please email info@abodeon.com for more information

Offering a carefully curated collection of items - vintage and current production - Abodeon specializes in the melding of form and function. We painstakingly select things that are cleverly useful, well-built with quality construction and materials, and will you bring you joy. We love combining classics of modern with the latest innovations by today’s designers, and believe that good design should be accessible.

We enjoy learning about innovative products that you believe would be a great addition to our store. Even if you’re simply an enthusiast, we want to hear from you. The most important criteria is that it is interesting and well designed. If you’re considering offering an item or items for sale, we suggest you email photos with a description to info@abodeon.com, or call Dale at (617) 497-0137
