SOLD. Advise is often given to keep descriptions short and to the point. When it comes to Eames lounge chairs, I proudly fail to take that advise. SOLD

If you’ve only sat in an Eames lounge chair made after 1970 when Herman Miller switched to foam instead of goose down, try sitting in an original chair. It’s a completely different experience. There’s a good reason Charles Eames chose goose down and not foam rubber, and it is readily apparent when you sit in the original. This is a 1964 Eames lounge chair. How do I know? Because Herman Miller used the 1964 medallion for that year only.

This is a really good Eames lounge chair and ottoman from 1964. You will not find Brazilian rosewood in better condition and of such exceptional pattern and beauty. No one has messed around with this chair, including me. The original finish is in truly wonderful condition. The leather has not been replaced. The goose down cushions have not been replaced. The seat of the chair and the ottoman leather have creases. I had Studio 670 reinforce the chair leather with another layer of leather under the original leather. They also reinforced the leather surrounding one button of the ottoman. We are lucky to have the premier Eames lounge chair restorer in the US right here in Framingham at Studio 670, run by my longtime friend and modern furniture expert Fran Trainor.

I have noticed more and more that when it comes to Eames lounge chairs, the caveat is “buyer beware”. I am constantly amazed how many websites provide misinformation including inaccurate information, as well as neglecting to communicate about replaced parts and not disclosing major restoration to potential customers. And no, Santos rosewood is not the same as Brazilian rosewood, nor is anything used recently and called “rosewood”. Dont be fooled.

The sensible way to ship this chair to disassemble and reassemble upon arrival. It’s not difficult to assemble these chairs and requires a screwdriver and not much else. It’s a fun project whole family. And a lot easier than taking and posting these admittedly imperfect photos. Cost for the US is generally a few hundred dollars. Shipping cost won’t be calculated on this website, please email info@abodeon.com. SOLD
