Large reversible stoneware pottery, slab sculpture by William Wyman.  This piece was handbuilt in 1968 for close friends of William Wyman and Marilyn Pappas.  In excellent condition.

William Wyman (1922-1980) began his career as a professional potter in 1953, founding Herring Run Pottery in East Weymouth, Massachusetts.  Known for both sculptural and functional objects, he taught ceramics at Drake University, the University of Maryland, and Massachusetts College of Art.  Wyman's papers are in the Smithsonian Archives; his work is in the following museums: Metropolitan Museum of Art, MFA Boston, Victoria and Albert Museum - London, Everson Museum of Art, Museum of Art and Design - NYC, The Brooklyn Museum of Art, the Minneapolis Institute of Art, and the Newark Museum.
