Circa 1961 iconic Klismos chair in walnut and leather designed by T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings and made in Greece by Saridis of Athens. Robsjohn-Gibbings took the form of a classic klismos chair introduced in Greece during the fifth century as a seat for women and created a design of great elegance (claiming the model was "to furniture what the Parthenon is to architecture").
Most importantly, this was the designer’s personal chair. With the chair is a letter of correspondence providing provenance that the chair was purchased directly from Gibbings, and that it was in his NY apartment.
In excellent condition.
